From Monchique, a pretty village that dominates the valley, with its whitewashed houses and cobbled streets, you will climb to the ruins of an old convent with its remains of frescoes in azulezos. The forests of cork oaks, pines, eucalyptus and other fruit trees, natural fountains, a century-old plane tree, a renovated mill, will punctuate your walk. You will then go down to Monchique via pretty picturesque villages.
You can then, at your leisure, have lunch in Monchique, stroll or visit the craft shops and historical monuments. On leaving, you will make a stop at a spectacular viewpoint where the gaze embraces the entire plain to the ocean, on days of great good weather.
You will then visit Caldas de Monchique, a small thermal station, which is another charm of this region. There is a pleasant freshness under the trees of its central square.
